What inspired you to become a writer?

I have wanted to write since I was a small child, and have always done so. The urge comes from my reading - I am a promiscuous and omnivorous reader and listener, easily lost in any kind of narrative, including my children’s stories about what they have been up to, a good film, a conversation, almost anything.
