About Josa Young

Josa Young is a writer and editor with long-standing experience of the upmarket British media, both online and print. Born in Kent, she was educated in single-sex boarding schools for ten years. She went up to Newnham College, Cambridge, to read English, where her generation included Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie, cabaret star Kit Hesketh-Harvey, Robert Bathurst and Emma Thompson.

She started her career at Vogue, having been a finalist in the Vogue Talent Contest. After marrying Thoby Young, she specialised in short-term contracts covering maternity leaves, including deputy editor of Elle Decoration and features editor of Vogue, Country Living and Tatler.

She also worked with her husband at the Fresh Food Company, Britain's first home delivery service for fresh organic food. They set up their first website in 1995, and she contributed an extensive searchable recipe database soon to be relaunched online.

From 2000, she began to gain further professional experience on the web, being part of the launch team for Ivillage.co.uk, leading the lifestyle channels at AOL UK, and working as executive editor of CondeNetUK. She is currently writing further fiction, and working on websites for a series of clients including International Life and Standpoint magazines.

Thoby and Josa have three children, Maud, 20, Archie, 16, and Ptolemy, 8. They live in West London, and have a shared passion for doing up old houses, good food, their children, tree ferns and box hedges.
